Sean is great!
I started working with him about a year ago. Between putting on 20 pounds after I quit smoking, having my back go out one too many times, and learning that my cholesterol count warranted going on Lipitor, I figured I'd better start taking my health more seriously as I entered my mid-30's. My fitness goals were simple. Get more active, strengthen my core muscles to help with the back pain, get my weight down, and have my chest stick out farther than my stomach.
I asked Sean to design a workout that I could do at home since previous attempts at dragging myself to the gym have not worked out well so. I had some weights and a Pilates ball and that was enough to get started. Sean also had me doing cardio (running, cycling, and swimming) on the days when I wasn’t doing strength training.
I have been very pleased with the results I’ve seen from working out under Sean’s direction. I’ve lost two inches off of my waist, and kept the weight off for more than six months. I am getting compliments from my friends and co-workers who have noticed the difference. While that certainly helps in the vanity department an even bigger benefit of working with Sean is that I can’t remember the last time I had any significant back pain. I’m also far more aware of my body and posture.
Sean is great about adapting my program to my current needs, as well as mixing things up to keep me from getting bored. I am currently working with Sean on increasing my flexibility and improving my balance and posture while still enhancing my strength training and core workouts.

One day, for no apparent reason I got it into my head that I wanted to run a triathlon.
I am not an athletic person. I have never been involved in organized sports. I took tap dance and chased three kids around, it was a good life. But then this triathlon idea took hold, there was just no shaking it. So after realizing that I seem to need to do this I made the next good decision. I decided that the goal would be to not hurt myself and to find a sustainable means of exercise. That is where Sean Dries comes in. I was able to call him and get the support I needed. Sean was able to work with me on realistic goals and appropriate increments for increasing my distance and time. My favorite part was when Sean would tell me how not to embarrass myself during the triathlon. There are lots of people who will tell you how to run better but only Sean sits and makes sure you know how to change a flat tire with a dollar bill as a patch. He also covers event etiquette and inspirational pep talks.
I know you are thinking that a personal trainer is so very Oprah. But trust me on this.
You would never take your car to any old mechanic. Do the same for your body. Go to Sean and learn the right way to meet your personal exercise goals.

After sustaining a sports-related injury to my lower
back/hip, I wanted to find a personal trainer that
could both supplement my physical therapy and keep me
in shape without aggravating the injuries. I had
interviewed a few trainers, and even had a few
workouts with them, but most really could not address
my needs.
Sean not only sat down with me to discuss the
injury/how it happened, but also walked me through how
he could help ameliorate some of the symptoms with
core strength exercises and help get me back to the
activities enjoy the most. Moreover, he would be able
to hold these training sessions outdoors with a "boot
camp"-like feel (one of my main parameters). Now,
after several workouts, I feel like my core strength
is improving, my injury is (hopefully) on road to
recovery, and my fitness level has accelerated. Sean's
workouts are tough but well thought-out and most
importantly, fun. He has emphasized the importnce of
core strength (abs, back) and its role in ensuring
long term health and physical activity.

Where to start? Sean is amazing. Before finding him, I worked with 3 other trainers – none of whom compare to him. Sean is the first one who took the time to understand my needs and how to achieve them given my current physical and emotion shape. One trainer pushed way too hard and I ended up hurting and depressed. Another didn’t push as hard but also didn’t seem to have the expertise and experience to create a suitable workout. Sean has it all – great listening skills, extensive experience and an intuitive ability to push just hard enough.
As though Sean’s training skills are not enough, he is also a coach. This is not something I sought nor frankly did I see much value in it when he began. Was I ever wrong! Sean’s coaching focuses me on behavior change – eating healthier, sleeping better, stress reduction, and generally feeling better in my everyday life. We don’t spend time on the past and previous failures – the focus is now. For the first time, I not only feel that I can change; I have changed – increased energy, decreased stress, and less pain in back and shoulders to name just three changes.
I moan, groan, whine and complain about him (as a matter of fact, my pet name for him is “Evil Sean”), but I don’t know what I would do without him. He really has helped me change my life.
